Casey Brienza, a manga critic, comics scholar, sociologist, and lecturer at the City University of London, has edited a themed series of posts at the Comics Forum blog. The topic is near and dear to my heart, and I'll have a short essay called, “Why Is It So Hard to Think About Comics as Labour?” up as part of the series.
Casey’s introduction to the series is up now. It’s a great summary of how creative work—and work in general—remain significant blindspots in the academic study of comics, which is dominated by approaches to comics as narrative or literature.
