Curatorial Garbage

I was recently invited to guest curate a small corner of the Carleton University Art Gallery to accompany Garbage, a comic book–inspired painting installation by Halifax artist Matthew Reichertz.

I selected two works from CUAG's permanent collection by Michèle Provost. Part of her Selling Out series, in which the art world is reimagines as a series of action figures, trading cards, and comic books, Provost's embroidered comic book covers, Caravaggio and Joseph Beuys, recall a fine-arts version of "Classics Illustrated."

Reichertz's installation is on display at CUAG until April.
